WE HELP WITH
LITERACY
We have found that many children can not read, have not been to school and have no story books at home. Children have been growing up seeing schools and not stepping a day in any of those schools.
It is for this reason that we have a program running in Kandabwe compound, Kalulushi and surrounding areas where the CIE mobile library visits schools and have reading lessons, story time and other reading games. The mobile library includes story books, puzzles, games and educational toys.
Computer literacy is also being addressed.

OUR IMPACT
We have noticed a new excitement in 500+ children regarding the availability of story books, and fascination to understand the pictures and words in the books.

WE HELP WITH
EDUCATION
Many children do not have access to exercise books, stationery and other resources at school and home. We provide the learning materials for vulnerable children to encourage them on their education journey.
Our activities are designed such that they are carried out outdoors to excite and attract children who are not in school to enroll.

OUR IMPACT
We have seen a 500% increase in enrollment at the community school in Kandabwe this year from last year due to the eagerness to join in the mobile library activities and availability of school resources.

WE HELP WITH
GENDER EQUALITY / ENDING GBV
We advocate for equal access to education. Girls often miss classes due to menstruation and various chores that are expected of them at home. We have been engaging the parents, teachers, orphanages and community schools to ensure girls attend class regularly and to add to this, we have been providing sanitary pads to the girl child.
We take advantage of the mobile library to earn children's trust, engage them in talks that may lead them to open up about gender based violence. Partners are being engaged on solutions to the problem.

OUR IMPACT
Four girls have been convinced to avoid early child marriages and instead chosen to continue with their education at the community schools we visit regularly. A further 300 have received two sanitary pads packets each.

WE OFFER
INSPIRATION
Many children do not have someone to guide them and help them with their decision making skills. We have decided to address the different challenges affecting children by organizing motivational, hygiene and mental health talks in schools, orphanages and in the various communities.

OUR IMPACT
Girls have started opening up and having conversations with their teachers about their living situations and mental health.
